Starck is an internationally renowned product designer, who established his own industrial design company that worked with those such as Alessi and Driade. He had a very interesting approach to design which was very democratic leading him to create mass-produced consumer products. Starck expanded his design practice to furniture, domestic appliances, architecture and even clothing.
"Perhaps the wonder of Starck is that his vision is not limited by medium, but instead is liberated by their respective possibilities."

For me Starck is a very influential and inspiring designer because he took a step forward in being different. He took a different approach to design not everything he designed was for a functional purpose, more an aesthetic piece. The Juicy Salif lemon squeezer is an example of this, it is not the most functional product but does that matter when the appearance of the product is so stunning! For me it doesn't matter I would love to own one of these lemon squeezers, it would never be used it would be a statement, a piece of sculpture, a topic of conversation and a reminder that sometimes it's okay to design for aesthetic reasons.
