Form & Function

I found an article that had tips to maintain the balance between form and function, which I found very useful and so decided to put on here. The article was by industrial designer Sahar Madanat who said "It's important to create a product that not only people need, but also want."
She indicated the importance of understanding and designing for the needs of the target demographic : "The balance between form and function should not be determined by the designer's set of values, rather is should be user's values that define it."
Form and function are definitely aspects I think about when designing and although it is difficult to balance them, reading what Sahar said definitely stuck in my head and will be one of the first thoughts when I am coming up with ideas.
