Another talk we had was with Josh Pulman who works with photography. I found it very interesting to see what he does and take in the advice he gave about the best ways to photograph products. Something that Josh spoke about was the decisive moment, this stuck in my head because I still was unsure of what this meant. Looking into it I found:
The decisive moment is a concept made popular by the street photographer, photojournalist, and Magnum co-founder Henri Cartier-Bresson. The decisive moment refers to capturing an event that is ephemeral and spontaneous, where the image represents the essence of the event itself.
I found this interesting and this have given me the passion to want to do more photography and capture some breath taking images that have a personal meaning.
Relating photography to Product Design, Josh spoke about how important it is to capture the form and shape of the product, through possibly using a white background and using the north lighting. It is all about the timing and capturing the focus of the product,
He said "You cannot capture the wind unless you're a wind turbine." I am unsure of what he meant by this but I have thought about it a lot and think that for me I could use this to remind me that it isn't always about the thing itself but how that affects the things around it and the sequence coming from it.
