I am very interested in the Art Movements, particularly Bauhaus and I have used Bauhaus ideas and aesthetics in the past for my own work. Bauhaus began as a result of the Industrial Revolution and meant rationalised and cheaper goods were produced. There are many designer associated with Bauhaus but my personal favourites are Gropius, Breuer and Kandinsky.
Reasons I am inspired by Bauhaus:
It combines functionality with simplicity to produce purer designs.
Many pieces of furniture were multifunctional items made of simple materials.
It was about: ‘People’s necessities, not luxuries’.
Pieces were manufactured in a basic yet functional way, but still aesthetically pleasing.
These are areas that I like to consider when designing making it not just for aesthetic purposes but for the functionality of the product!!
