For the past four weeks of university I have been working on a storage modula project, having to create 15 A3 boards with different information on including: research, specification, drawings/models and FEA testing. For me it was a fun project to start the year, but very challenging and even stressful at times. It was interesting to develop a product and use solidworks to be able to show our ideas and see if they could withstand weight using the FEA stress test.

Our specification was that we had to create modula storage for people ages 20-30, which will assist in the moving process. From this I decided that I was going to focus on men between this age, who live at home and play video games. As from research I was able to see that there is a large percentage of men still living at home with parents and I wantted to create a product that could help them personalise there space and organise their gaming equipment.

I drew a few different ideas in different perspectives and also created them on solidworks so along with the design matrix I could see which was the best design.

I then created my final design out of foam board to see how functional it would be and see if the sizes looked aesthetically appealing.

Using solidworks I was able to present my ideas and aply materials to the surfaces to get a real feel for what my product will look like. I found it really interesting to be able to do this and although it was difficult at first to use solidworks but by following tutorials I was able to pick up features quickly and use these in my design.

Using the simulation feature you are able to apply weight to the product and see if any deformation occurs. By the end of this I was able to do it without looking at the tutorial because I tried it so many times. The project as a whole was enjoyable and I think I was able to get a reasonable set of boards in the short space of time we had.
